The Baltic is a café that fits comfortably into Geelong’s city rhythm, located on Little Malop Street. Known primarily for its strong, well-crafted coffee, it draws locals who appreciate a calm spot to settle in—whether that’s for a morning pick-me-up or a relaxed afternoon break. Expect a casual vibe where the border between café and bar blurs, especially later in the day.

Inside, the atmosphere leans into an understated charm influenced by English and Baltic sensibilities, with decor choices that create a welcoming but distinctive environment. It’s a place where the details—like magazines available to browse or the quietness during off-peak times—invite visitors to linger, making it easy to imagine spending a couple of hours working or catching up with friends.

The menu, while not extensive, focuses on a few well-loved staples. Coffee on Ice and wonderfully made cappuccinos are highlights, perfect for both warm days and cooler mornings. The food options, including a particularly praised Ruben sandwich, serve as substantial companions to the drinks without feeling overly complicated or fussy. This balance makes it a good spot for anyone wanting a straightforward, satisfying café experience without rushing.

Outdoor seating is available for those who enjoy a bit of street-side watching, though noise levels can vary depending on the time and how busy the street is. This aspect, combined with the generally quiet interior, offers visitors the choice between engaging with the city’s pulse or retreating to a more serene corner.

Local and visiting customers alike appreciate the friendly service and the small touches that reflect the owners’ personal connection to the place, such as travel tips shared with visitors headed to nearby attractions. The Baltic appeals to those who value a slow, thoughtful coffee break—whether you’re a local on a weekday morning or a traveler easing into Geelong’s café culture.

Loved the coffee, croissant and danish at this quaint cafe. Thanks to the owner who suggested an excellent route to the 12 apostles, the scenic drive through Winchelsea really made our day! Many pats and goodboys to Simon who patiently sat at the cafe door :)

Wonderful cafe & bar at the Yarra Street end of Lt. Malop. Excellent coffee, tasty Ruben sandwich & a welcoming, relaxing vibe. Magazines available to read. I highly recommend The Baltic Quiet inside. Seating out the front may have some noise depending on the day & time of day.

Very nice and amazing place with the real Baltic charm! Very good cappuccino and excellent service! Well done Jonas! Labai ačiū, Jonas ! Thank you very much! Definitely will be coming back and recommend it to my friends. It's like travelling to Europe without living Australia. Take a good care of yourself and your family. C.T.

While everyone is making mild milky coffee elsewhere, I highly prefer the rich, dark-roasted italian-style taste served here. Shopkeeper and the border collie are friendly and welcoming. And the Baltic + military decoration adds the uniqueness of this place. Highly recommended!

A super cozy family-ran café perfect for catching up with a friend or studying! The coffee here is sensational, using Wild Timor coffe: a natural hybrid of Arabica and Robusta beans, only found in Timor-Leste Tasting notes include: a smooth blend of Caramel, chocolate and cherry sweetness; hints of soft citrus and rum This cafe also offers toasties and a locally sourced selection of baked goods consisting of croissants, danishes, BLT’s and cookies
